Larry Goes to Fuengirola. (2) Tuesday 10 May 2022

After the rigours of a nearly 24 hour day on Monday, it was nice to spend today at Tim & Kaja's, with no need to drive anywhere. They have a really fabulous property, a very old stone farmhouse and outbuilding complex, and about 35 hectares of land including a decent amount of woodland.

They farmed the land for some years but now rent it out to neighbouring farmers. They run a B&B business and I cannot recommend it too highly. (And not just me, check out those reviews!) The Charente is a lovely, green, and utterly rural area. You can sit outside the farmhouse and hear not a single sound except for birds. Kaja said they had kestrels nesting in one of the farm buildings last year, and were able to sit and watch the fledglings learning to fly. Heaven!

We went for lunch in the nearest town, Rochechouart, very nice and very sociable, as everyone seemed to know everyone. Then to the local Intermarche for some essential purchases, after which back to the farm, and chatting late into the evening. The weather has been very warm, so we sat outside in the sun.

There are a lot of trees, it is hard to take a photo of the view! But it is a lovely area..
